Taunggyi
A rare specialty Arabica from the highlands of Shan State, Myanmar. Grown at high elevations around Taunggyi, this coffee showcases vibrant fruit character, floral complexity, and exceptional sweetness emerging from one of Asia’s fastest-rising specialty coffee origins.
THE ORIGIN
Hidden in the Highlands. Discovered by Specialty Coffee.
Taunggyi sits high in Myanmar’s Shan State at approximately 1,400 meters above sea level, surrounded by mountains, cool temperatures, and fertile agricultural land. These unique growing conditions have helped establish Shan State as the heart of Myanmar’s specialty coffee movement.
Coffee cultivation in Myanmar expanded significantly through development projects that encouraged sustainable agricultural alternatives in the region. Over the past decade, improvements in processing, farmer training, and quality control have transformed Myanmar into one of the most exciting emerging coffee origins in Asia.
Today, coffees from Taunggyi and surrounding Shan State are increasingly recognized for their vibrant fruit notes, elegant acidity, and clean, complex cup profiles.
